"golfweekend at Legemeer"
One of those unknown jewels in Friesland. Far away from crowded places, there's this cosy hotel, near and nice Golf court. We had an very nice weekend with good food, great breakfast all served by very nice (young) personel. Nice spacious rooms with shower and balcony. walking distance of the golf court.

"A very nice and quiet hotel"
As always the welcome was very friendly and well organized. We are staying in this hotel since 2008 almost every year for a few days. Their big suites are remarkable. The arrangements incl dinner and golf are splendid. The staff, although very young, is friendly and are trained in hospitality. Maybe it is time to renew some furniture (chairs in the rooms, carpet...) it shows the effect of many guests using it since 2008....

"Not just for the golf"
Of course the golf course at walking distance is quite convenient but we were there for 5 days to seek a bit of peace and quiet and there was plenty of that in a drizzly but beautiful autumn admosphere. We were well looked after by the staff and both breakfast and dinner left nothing to be required. Our room had a beautiful view of the fields and the beds were excellent. We look forward to a return visit in spring to explore the beautiful surroundings further but then by bicycle.

"It all comes down to service"
Physically, its a good hotel, smart, modern and well laid out. Noise insulation not great. Food in restaurant was excellent and the best we had in Holland. It is very remote so unless you play golf its leafy lane walks for you. Would I come back. Yes definitely, but only if I could be assured that the young lady who served us at dinner and at reception was going to be there. This girl knows the meaning of customer service and made up for all the shortcomings at the hotel. She should be cloned by Hampshire and installed in each of there Hotels.

Museum Joure comprises nine buildings and an expansive garden. This museum lets visitors see where the craftsmen of old (the clockmaker and the goldsmith, for example) used to work. The maritime museum Fries Scheepvaartmuseum in the heart of Sneek will tell you all about Frisian shipbuilding and shipping, from the 17th Century to the present. Get acquainted with the life’s work of Jopie Huisman, Frisian artist and clog trader, in the Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum.

Hiking and cycling

Friesland has four major national parks. National Park De Alde Feanen with its many lakes and ponds is highly recommended. Bird spotters might spot the bluethroat or the western marsh harrier here. Lovers of the woods might rather choose to go hiking in National Park Drents-Friese Wold.
